Bachelor in Computer Science and Engineering

The goal of the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering is education in an array scientific and technical knowledge that enables the student to acquire, represent, process and transmit information via computers.

The curriculum provides in-depth study into different fields: information technology geared to artificial intelligence, computer engineering designed for the development of hardware and distributed software, and information systems that deal with data processing and business software integration. The degree can be studied in a bilingual mode and has the EUR-ACE seal.

This degree program offers a solid education in basic subjects such as mathematics and statistics, along with technological subjects such as AI, software engineering, cybersecurity and operating systems, among others.

Information Engineering

In this course the student will learn related knowledge to: Information Science, Classification Systems, Knowledge Organization Systems, and its formal representation in the computer Science as well as its main applications and uses.

Software Engineering

Apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to the analysis, design and troubleshooting, providing solutions that respect the rules of accessibility, ergonomics and safety at work and to comply with existing legislation.


Bachelor of Documentation

Information and Documentation studies have their origin in the famous Higher Diplomatic School, which from the mid 19th century to 1900 specifically trained the professionals of the Corps of Archivists and Librarians, and were integrated into the University. Since the 1970s there is specific training for Documentation professionals, Libraries experts, Archives, and Documentation Centres.

The basic objective of the Information and Documentation Graduate is to train professionals capable of selecting, managing, organizing, and preserving documentation and information so that it can be used by third parties regardless of where it is stored or its format and support.

The Faculty of Documentation Sciences is located in the center of Madrid, with excellent communication through public transport (three metro stations and four bus lines), and it has the necessary infrastructure and equipment to deliver the program: libraries and documentary resources, classrooms, laboratories, conference room, computer rooms, workshops, Wi-Fi connection, etc.

Advanced information recovery systems

This subject exposes concepts of information recovery through a practical methodology.The recovery of information in the Web environment has a representative place, as well as the models and evaluation techniques of recovery systems. Recovery improvements are contemplated using metadata and markup languages.Through interrogation languages is practiced with models of representation and classification of information.


Bachelor in Statistics and Busines

The goal of this program is to form professionals with quantitative skills who can transform data into useful information for the decisions of businesses and institutions in sectors such as finance, banking, insurance and business consulting.

To this end, we have created a degree in statistics with a business orientation and an important applied nature that fosters the learning of computer science while placing special importance on mathematical education. Likewise, it emphasizes teamwork, aspects of computation and information processing with the use of the most advanced software.

MASTER IN BIG DATA ANALYTICS

Our Master program is oriented towards the training of people interested in working in data analytics, and in particular of analytics involving the evaluation of very large volumes of data in companies and organizations. Master’s students, either recently graduated or professionals, will receive both additional formation in the basic foundations of the analytics methods used for Big Data, and familiarity with their potential applications in different areas of interest.

Particular emphasis will be placed on the use of applications based on analytic languages such as R and Python. The courses will also introduce data storage and processing paradigms such as MapReduce or noSQL, and their implementations (Hadoop, Storm, Spark, etc…), as well as cloud storing and computing methodologies. This knowledge will prepare them to handle large data sets and to conduct complex statistical and computational analysis of these data, to obtain results in pattern identification, prediction, forecasting, simulation or optimization, relevant for the improvement of the efficiency in the activities of companies and organizations.

As an illustration of this potential demand, the French government expects that the needs for professionals with these qualifications during the coming five years on the whole of the EU will be in excess of 300,000 persons. In Spain, the use of these techniques is expected to increase by at least 300% in the next three years.

Back-end of big data analysis

Apply the theoretical foundations of the techniques of collection, storage, treatment and presentation of information, especially for large volumes of data, as a basis for the development and adaptation of these techniques to specific problems  CG2 Identify different techniques to store, replicate and distribute large amounts of of data, and differentiate them based on their theoretical and practical characteristics


MASTER IN TECHNOLOGIES IN THE FINANCIAL SECTOR: FINTECH

FinTech, the integration of technology into financial services companies, is experimenting a huge grow in the last years requiring a high number of professionals, with a demand that exceeds the available number of skilled human resources.

The Master in Financial Services Technologies: FinTech (MUFintech) was created to fulfill the demand of professionals for the Fintech sector as requested by our business partners: Accenture, BBVA, MSO, NTTData and VASS. A promoter of the master was Comunytek Consultores S.L., now part of VASS, one of the most prominent Spanish companies in FinTech. The MUFintech teaching staff includes professionals from companies and institutions as relevant as the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), BBVA, Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME), Comunytek, CIMD, Santander Corporate & Investment Banking or the Witnet Foundation.

MUFinTech graduates are required to perform an internship in a financial services company. Our partners offer a number of paid internships. We offer also scholarships that partially cover academic fees. The labor market insertion rate in the last two academic years has been equal to 100%, in many cases thanks to contracts offered by our partner companies, which allow studying and working simultaneously.

MUFinTech provides the combined technological and financial skills needed to work in the FinTech sector and is addressed both to fresh graduated students and to professionals with some experience in the field. Its international environment fosters the creation of strong professional networks among the students. 100% of the students of the last graduating class recommend enrolling in MUFinTech. Being an official master, it also allows to start a research career if desired.

MUFinTech classes are hosted at the Puerta de Toledo campus, in the hearth of Madrid city. Face-to-face classes, Monday and Friday from 4pm to 9pm, are complemented with autonomous student’s work.

Big Data

Ability to understand and apply methods and techniques in the field of Computer Engineering in financial markets. Ability to conceive, design or create, put into practice and adopt a substantial process of development or creation of software for financial markets. The Master in Digital Libraries, Archives and Continuity of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (MBACD-UC3M) is an academic degree that train specialists in all activities related to resource management of digital information. Syllabus include digital born information, conversion from non-digital formats, organization, storage, preservation, retrieval, dissemination and reuse. Graduates will become specialists to deal with the digitization, document and records management systems, digital libraries, and digital preservation of cultural, research and administrative content.
